Est. 2026 — New York City

Tyler Shore

Vocals

Tyler Shore

Tyler is a lifelong musician and a dynamic tenor whose voice— warm, versatile, and rich with genuine soul— anchors the Smooth Sailing sound. With extensive experience performing on professional stages and entertaining crowds of all shapes and sizes, he has spent years sharpening his ear for the precise intersection of pop craftsmanship and live energy. Whether starring in Off-Broadway productions or headlining international contracts on the high seas and beyond, Tyler brings a wealth of high-level performance experience to the front of the stage every single time. Tyler loves nothing more than getting a crowd on their feet and keeping the vibes positive & immaculate from the first note to the final bow.

Q: What do you love most about performing live?

A: "I love connecting with each audience personally. This music- Yacht Rock- is built to be relatable, enjoyable, and a good time in general. I believe firmly that it is a huge privilege of ours as musicians to share that experience, because you never know whose heart you're gonna touch, whose day you're gonna brighten, maybe make someone smile for the first time that they have in too long a while— thats what makes it all worth it."

Q: When you aren't performing, where would you sail off to for a little R&R?

A:"Bonaire. When I used to work at sea we would drop anchor there a few times a month. When I imagine what my personal heaven is, it looks a lot like sitting on the soft coral sand, soaking up the sun, listening to the waves come in, and listening to some Fleetwood Mac in Bonaire."

Q: You're on a yacht, watching the sunset with some good company. What drink is in your hand?

A: "Jamaican Ginger Beer... The strong stuff!"

Jen Brett

Vocals

Jen Brett

Jen Brett brings extraordinary range and emotional depth to every note she sings. Her voice fills a room effortlessly: crystalline on the highs, and vibrant throughout her entire range. Jen is perfectly suited for the expressive and smooth vocal arrangements that define the Yacht Rock canon. Jen has a rare and refined ability to make every lyric feel personal; connecting with audiences in a way that makes a room go quiet and then erupt.

Born and raised in NYC, Jen is known throughout the country and beyond as being an unforgettable powerhouse of a vocalist. Jen has starred in countless musicals across the country, as well as being a member of & headlining the International Girl Group "Unique3".

With years of professional performance experience, Jen is the kind of vocalist other musicians write home about, and I bet you will too!

Q: What inspired you to go into performing, full-time?

A: "Watching people on stage in theatre and being a part of a beautiful community was so inspiring for me!"

Q: Favorite song on our setlist?

A: "Brandy! I love getting to see Ricky sing and sing along with him. That's my HUSBAND! (yes, our guitar player, THAT Ricky!)"

Q: What is your absolute favorite place that being a professional singer has brought you thus far?

A: "Without a doubt, Japan! There's just no place like it."

Teri Pavia

Vocals

Teri Pavia

Teri Pavia provides an essential soulful sound to our band. Rounding out Tyler's Tenor & Jen's Soprano vocal ranges, Teri is the real hero of the vocals, often tackling the most complex harmonies. Teri knows exactly when to stay in the pocket and when to float above it. Her vocals weave through every arrangement with fluency and elegance- always bringing her heart and soul to every song.

Q: What is your favorite song on our setlist?

A: "Without a doubt, its "Biggest Part of Me" by Ambrosia. It just touches my heart! I think it might be my favorite song ever, regardless of genre."

Q: Who's music do you enjoy more, Stevie Nicks, or Dolly Parton?

A: "Impossible to decide between two queens of rock! BOTH!"

Q: What do you love most about this band?

A: "The connection that we all have in this band. We love making music together, and even more than making the music, is sharing it with every amazing audience."

Ricky Westrip

Guitar Wizard

Ricky Westrip

Ricky Westrip's guitar work is the kind that makes your jaw drop and your shoulders relax at the same time. His touch is precise, his tone is immaculate, and his solos are the sonic equivalent of a convertible on an open coastal highway — unhurried, gorgeous, and going exactly where they need to go. His resume is storied: having worked with such names as Andy Bell (Erasure), toured with Ok Goodnight, Kerry Ellis, Yolanda Brown, and many more.

Ricky has also worked extensively at sea, as guitarist for the inaugural sailing of the Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex, and Celebrity Beyond.

A technically gifted player with serious taste, Ricky understands what the genre demands: feel over flash, melody over mayhem, and every note in the right place at the right time. This is his natural habitat. A musical genius with a penchant for collaboration, Ricky enriches every part of every song we play.

Q: Best guitarists in all of Yacht Rock... GO!

A: "I’ve always been inspired by guitar players like Steve Lukather from Toto and Walter Becker of Steely Dan."

Q: If you could drop anchor in any harbor on earth, where would it be?

A: "The Galapagos islands because I reckon myself an amateur scientist- although, I don’t know any science outside of YouTube and struggle with basic math."

Q: Imagine this: you're on a beach, relaxing, listening to some smooth Yacht Rock... What is in your picnic basket?

A: "Bottle of Tequila and an instant Margarita mix on ice to commemorate the great Jimmy Buffet."

John

Bass Player, "Alleged" Pirate

John “Doom” Davis

Don't let the nickname fool you. John "Doom" Davis is the whimsical, joyful heartbeat of Smooth Sailing.

A cross between Dusty Hill, Leland Sklar, the Travelocity Gnome, and Blackbeard the Pirate, John “Doom” Davis has done many notable things in his short life including inventing the letter Q, creating broccoli, the internet (no, wasn’t Al Gore), Velcro, the corn dog, and the process of harvesting embryonic stem cells. He’s appeared on MTV in heavy rotation in the 80’s with his band, West Of Eden, opened for the likes of The Butthole Surfers and Bang Tango in the 90’s with alternative band, Rosary Violet, and played festivals all across the U.S. as the bald, bearded, bare-footed, bass playing singer with an affinity for kilt wearing in Celtic rock band, Finn’s Fury, whose music was featured in numerous theatrical releases that are better left unnamed. He was once called “the funkiest white boy I’ve ever heard play bass”, by Nile Rogers of CHIC fame.

A firm believer of fun with facial hair and the higher the boot the better, Doom brought the fun in funky regalia to 70s Rock Parade for 8 years, and was in constant competition with Steve Stewart as to who could reach the highest harmonies. (Doom won!) No stranger to singing lead, he's perfectly content to remain behind the three incredible singers of Smooth Sailing as a backup singer and saber rattler! Greatly opposed to the juggling of kittens, he finds it mildly amusing but extremely cruel. When he’s not stomping the stage with his Fender Precision, Doom is endorsed by and plays Danelectro basses provided by the best damn music store on Long Island, All Music Inc.

Q: Who, in your humble opinion, is the ultimate "Captain of Yacht Rock"?

A: "Tough one to answer...Love Michael McDonald...Steely Dan are incredible...Kenny Loggins songs are damned near perfect pop creations...but Christopher Cross does embody the smoothness and swag of Yacht Rock. Gonna have to let Christopher Cross reign supreme."

Q: What made you "allegedly give up piracy on the high seas", for a career in music?

A: "I was singing, banging on pots and pans, and driving my parents crazy as a wee lad. When I had my first paying gig at age 13 and realized I could do what I loved AND make money? Shwing! Game over."

Q: Pack a bag for a perfect beach day. What's in it?

A: "1 large umbrella for shade, 1 comfy beach blanket, 1 large thermos of chilled Peach Bellini, a perfect charcuterie board, and my wife! Top it off with a perfect playlist of some smooth yacht rock... now that's an unforgettable day."

Brian Connelly

Piano Whisperer

Brian Connelly

Brian Connelly is the sonic glue that keeps the groove smooth and the vibes completely effortless. His keyboard work is lush, tasteful, and always in service of the melody: a philosophy that defined the legendary studio session players of the Yacht Rock golden era. Brian doesn’t just play the chords; he builds the entire atmosphere.

Experienced in a wide range of genres and having decades of experience touring with dozens of cover bands, Brian probably knows every song to ever hit the top charts.

His playing has a conversational, intuitive quality that elevates everyone else on stage. Elegant, responsive, and absolutely dependable—Brian’s rhodes patches and synth swells are the foundational horizon everything else sails on, and you feel it the moment the music starts.

Q: Favorite song from our setlist?

A: Lido Shuffle.

Q: Who in your opinion is the "Ultimate Captain of Yacht Rock"?

A: Andrew Gold.

Steven Stewart

Drum Master Extraordinaire, Captain of our Ship

Stephen Stewart

Stephen Stewart is the ultimate anchor of Smooth Sailing—the visionary captain who brought this entire crew together and keeps the groove locked tightly in place.

Steve Stewart has been performing on stage since the early 70's From Las Vegas showmanship bands to all across the country with Rock and roll artists and tribute shows, Stephen has done it all!

Bringing a decades of experience to the drum throne, Steven plays with a rare tonal warmth and natural rhythmic phrasing that elevates a great arrangement into something genuinely memorable.

Q: Favorite songs in all of Yacht Rock?

A: "Anything by Ambrosia and Gino Vanelli."

Q: Sunset cruise beverage of choice?

A: "An ice cold Coors Light, in a frosted glass of course!"
